Poodles can be prone to some genetic diseases. Genetic eye diseases are common in Poodles. Therefore, a qualified veterinarian should examine all breeding stock before breeding. One of the typical eye problems in Poodles is Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). This disease worsens as the Poodle becomes older. This eye condition may lead to total blindness of the dog. Other dangerous eye diseases are Iris atrophy, entropion, and micropthalmos.
Von Willebrand's Disease, allergies, gastric torsion, and hip dysplasia are among frequently met diseases in the Poodle breed. When you are buying a Poodle puppy, make sure your breeder is knowledgeable on the breed's health issues and has done everything possible to improve the quality and health of the dogs that he produces.

All puppies from the litter should be vet checked and vaccinated before being sold and placed in their new homes.
